ICE-Local Law Enforcement Collaboration: Local law enforcement agents threaten public safety and community policing efforts by collaborating with federal immigration agents. Detentions: Immigrants are being detained at increasing rates and housed in detention facilities with inhumane living conditions. Workplace: Employers continue to exploit workers using Social Security no match letters while legislators introduce temporary worker programs reminiscent of past failed initiatives. Border: The humanitarian crisis at the border has reached new heights as migrant deaths hit record numbers and the federal government continues pouring billions of dollars into further militarizing the region. Raids: The U.S. Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) has broadened its raids strategy and used immigration sweeps as a political response to immigrant rights defense efforts. To join AIRC in educating immigrants on their rights and how to protect themselves and their families in an immigration raid, please email [email protected]. ***Enforcement-only policies are not the right solutions for our communities, we need immigration policies that legalize the undocumented, protect worker and civil rights and reunify families.***
